Scarlett Johansson is making her directorial debut with the film “Eleanor the Great.” The movie, previously titled “Eleanor, Invisible,” follows the story of Eleanor Morgenstein, a 90-year-old woman portrayed by June Squibb. After the death of her best friend, Eleanor moves back to New York City from Florida to rebuild her life. The cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jessica Hecht, and Erin Kellyman. Tory Kamen wrote the screenplay for the film. TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Classics will release “Eleanor the Great” in theaters, marking their first partnership. The production involves various producers such as Jonathan Lia, Keenan Flynn, Kara Durrett, Jessamine Burgum, Celine Rattray, and Trudie Styler. Wayfarer Studios co-financed the film with other entities like Content Engineers and Pinky Promise. The movie is set to be released on a date yet to be determined. Scarlett Johansson’s transition into directing with “Eleanor the Great” showcases her versatility and talent beyond acting in this upcoming project.
