Lily Gladstone made history at the 81st Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 7, 2024. She won the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama award for her role in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” becoming the first Indigenous person to receive a Golden Globe. Gladstone, who uses she/they pronouns, started her acceptance speech in the Blackfeet language, a significant and natural gesture for her. She expressed gratitude for being able to speak even a little of her language, thanks to her mother, and emphasized the importance of Native representation and storytelling. Her win and impactful speech marked a historic moment for Indigenous representation in the entertainment industry.
