Sophie Belinda Turner, born on February 21, 1996, in Northampton, England, is a prominent British actress best known for her role as Sansa Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones (2011-2019). This role catapulted her to international fame and earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019.
Turner grew up in Warwickshire and was involved in local theater from a young age. She attended The King's High School for Girls and began acting professionally at 14 after being encouraged by her drama teacher to audition for Game of Thrones. To prepare for the role, she dyed her hair auburn and portrayed Sansa through her complex evolution over eight seasons.
In addition to her television work, Turner has appeared in films such as X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Dark Phoenix (2019), where she played Jean Grey. She married musician Joe Jonas in 2019, but they separated in September 2023. As of 2024, Turner continues to work on new projects, including the upcoming series Joan, where she plays the lead role.
