Turner grew up in Warwickshire and was involved in local theater from a young age. She attended The King's High School for Girls and began acting professionally at 14 after being encouraged by her drama teacher to audition for Game of Thrones. To prepare for the role, she dyed her hair auburn and portrayed Sansa through her complex evolution over eight seasons.
In addition to her television work, Turner has appeared in films such as X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Dark Phoenix (2019), where she played Jean Grey.
