To this casual event, Rihanna wore a Saint Laurent Strapless Ruffled Cotton-Gabardine Maxi Dress. This tan, prairie-inspired maxi was voluminous, and the tiered ruffle neckline and ruched hem on the skirt hid her growing bump easily. The dress was made of 100 percent cotton and was a tribute to the traditional designs of the 19 th century but discreet pockets gave it a modern touch of practicality. This oversized silhouette was a sharp contrast to her recent body-con selections by brands such as Marc Jacobs, Alaia, Miu Miu, and Brandon Maxwell.
Rather than choosing chunky wedge sandals, which would be a traditional accompaniment to a boho maxi, Rihanna kept her feet on the ground with her favorite pregnancy shoe: Puma Speedcat Og Sneakers in Haute Coffee-Frosted Ivory. These 100-dollar slim sneakers, which were based on race-car driving shoes, were just what the A-list street style needed at the time, as slender as Adidas Sambas or Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66s.
No Rihanna look is complete without a statement bag, and this time she went to Schiaparelli, holding the Schiaparelli Keyhole Gym Bag, which costs $7,200. Although the croc-embossed, black patent top-handle bag bore an athletic name, it was not athleisure. It was designed with the gold keyhole fastening and jigsaw-shaped stitching, which were the trademarks of Schiaparelli.
In the accessories department, Rihanna stuck to her classics: a baseball cap, and a flashy 100,000 dollar Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Rose Gold Pink Dial Watch. She also had large hoop earrings, a herringbone choker necklace and her Xiv Karats Custom Mom Gold and Diamond Ring. The look was finished with a bold red lip, possibly her own Fenty Beauty, and her touch of glamour.
Although her street style tends to be more sporty, this venture into the boho renaissance was a welcome change. It was one of her most bohemian-leaning decisions in recent memory, and her June 13 outfit of Levi denim jumpsuit was another casual standout. Maybe this third pregnancy is actually bringing a new aesthetic to RiRi, or even a reversion to her earlier 2010s Chlo girl.
So, is this casual luxe the beginning of a new direction in her fashion path or is it Rihanna going on a well-earned (and perfectly accessorized) burger run?
