Michelle Williams Trendsetting Style at Dying For Sex Premiere

Michelle Williams dazzled in Proenza Schouler at the Dying For Sex premiere. Paired with Belperron cuffs and The Row clutch, was this a masterclass in quiet luxury?

When Michelle Williams steps onto a red carpet, it’s never just a look—it’s a statement. At the Dying For Sex New York City premiere on April 2, 2025, the Oscar-nominated actor delivered a masterclass in understated elegance, proving that sophistication doesn’t need to shout.

Held at the SVA Theatre, the event celebrated FX and Hulu’s provocative new series, based on Wondery’s podcast about a woman reclaiming her sexuality amid a terminal illness. But beyond the show’s weighty themes, Williams’ style became its own conversation. She chose a Proenza Schouler Serra Dress in matte jersey, a sleek, body-skimming silhouette that balanced modernity with timeless grace. The minimalist design—free of embellishments—let the craftsmanship speak for itself, a hallmark of designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s precision.
Accessories were deliberate yet whisper-quiet: The Row’s Mel Clutch in rich black, a study in restrained luxury, and Belperron’s Marquise Wave Cuffs, their undulating gold forms echoing Art Deco fluidity. A second Belperron Gray Gold Wave Cuff added texture, playing with shadow and light. The result? A look that felt both intimate and iconic—much like the show’s exploration of vulnerability.
Williams’ approach mirrors the series’ ethos. In an interview with PEOPLE, she praised the intimacy coordinator for fostering safety and private dialogue on set: “You know your scene partner feels understood… they don’t have to explain to a million people.” Costar Jay Duplass called her process “a beginner’s mind,” a testament to her ability to elevate material through authenticity.
