Denim has become high fashion in this our day! I am just old enough to remember that even as late as the 1980s some people regarded it as primarily work wear for serious hard physical work, eg roadbuilding, and that one should aim to find something in a softer fabric for formal or casual wear in other settings. But casual trends from the USA came to rule the world and are here to stay!
