Kate Middleton Attends Wimbledon Final in Structured Self-Portrait Chic

With her pleated cream Self-Portrait dress and a surprise switch to a woven tote, Kate Middleton balanced royal polish with quiet summer rebellion—Wimbledon whites, reimagined.

There’s a familiar thrill in spotting Princess Kate at Wimbledon—a seasonal ritual as classic as strawberries and cream. And yet, on July 12, 2025, she gave royal watchers something just a little unexpected. Arriving for the Women’s Singles Final between Iga Świątek and Amanda Anisimova, the Princess of Wales embraced the tournament’s de facto white dress code, but subverted its stiffness with texture, movement, and a whisper of novelty.

The centerpiece? A two-in-one Self-Portrait dress that fused soft power tailoring with pleated fluidity—structured up top, effortless below. A belted jacket bodice merged into a diaphanous skirt, suggesting both discipline and play. For longtime Kate followers, the silhouette is well within her established sartorial lexicon; Self-Portrait has become one of her most-worn labels in recent years, favored for its camera-readiness and quiet modernity. But this particular iteration—a soft cream tone rather than stark white—read less ceremonial, more lived-in. A Wimbledon white, but with a human pulse.
The accessories, though, are where the look really breathed.
Instead of a clutch (her usual go-to), Kate carried the Anya Hindmarch Neeson Small Square Tote, a hand-braided, open-weave design in white leather. More beach-market than palace protocol, the carry-all added a note of bohemian practicality to an otherwise polished ensemble. The bag, not yet released at time of writing but listed as “coming soon” on the designer’s website, is priced at $1,490. (If you’re itching for an earlier version, the “light nude” version currently retails at $1,116.)
Her footwear was more in character: the Gianvito Rossi Ribbon Sling Pumps in Nude Suede, a favorite of hers—and notably also of Duchess Meghan. Their shared allegiance to Rossi isn’t incidental; it’s a reminder of how royal women use accessories to shape soft alliances and visual continuity within The Firm.
Jewelry-wise, Middleton layered meaning as she often does. On her wrist, the Halcyon Days Maya Torque Gold Bangle in Aquamarine caught the sun, echoed quietly by her Cartier Ballon Bleu Stainless Steel Watch—a study in relaxed luxury. Her Annoushka Eclipse Diamond Eternity Ring and Wartski Welsh Gold Wedding Band accompanied the crown jewel: her iconic Garrard Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring, a historic piece with pop-cultural muscle.
Her sunglasses—Ralph Lauren Ralph Ra5305U in Black Havana—offered a hit of angular drama, anchoring the look against Wimbledon’s soft-focus pageantry. And then there was the beauty styling: those signature princess nails, done in the now-iconic near-transparent blush. Barely there, yet immediately identifiable.
Was this a fashion revolution? Hardly. But that’s never been Kate’s play. What she does is far more subtle: fine-tuned iterations of power-dressing, where even the softest detail—a change of bag, a tonal shift—carries weight. She’s not rewriting royal style; she’s refining it, inch by inch, tote by tote.
So: was the bag a statement of function, or just a Wimbledon whim? Either way, it worked.
