Miley Cyrus moves through sharply different black leather silhouettes for Wonderland, from a fitted Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown to cropped jackets and slit skirts.
Miley Cyrus appears in Wonderland Issue 86 for Summer 2026, photographed by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Alastair McKimm for an issue she guest-edited. Miley Cyrus in monochrome editorial fashion moves through several black leather looks, using changes in neckline, length and volume to prevent the material from settling into one predictable rock-star formula.
The Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown offers the cleanest full-length statement. Its strapless bodice forms a deep sweetheart line, with visible seams shaping the upper body before the fitted skirt extends into a long, narrow column. Against the white studio background, the dark surface reads as one continuous graphic shape.
A separate midi-skirt look introduces more interruption. The skirt remains close through the hips before opening through a high side slit, while a cropped long-sleeved jacket adds a harder upper frame. Pointed pumps with metal hardware sharpen the finish and repeat the controlled shine of the clothing.
Another image shifts the jacket into a more constructed role. Zips, curved chest panels and pronounced shoulders give the upper half more architecture, while the knee-length skirt keeps the silhouette compact. The result feels less like eveningwear and more like a tightly edited uniform.
The editorial then abandons that fitted discipline through a pale, enveloping coat layered over dark hosiery and minimal underpinnings. Its expansive, shaggy surface obscures much of the body and replaces the leather story’s hard edges with exaggerated softness. The contrast is useful because it changes not only texture, but the relationship between clothing and figure.
Across the set, the black-and-white photography removes color as a source of hierarchy. Shine, seams, openings and silhouette must do all the work, which gives the celebrity fashion photoshoot greater consistency than a sequence built on unrelated statement pieces.
Cyrus’s tousled blonde waves provide the recurring soft element. They break the strict outlines of the leather garments and keep the portraits from becoming overly polished, while the restrained jewelry leaves the construction visible.

The editorial earns 9/10. The floor-length gown has the strongest single silhouette, but the wider set succeeds because each look gives black leather a different function: column, uniform, slit skirt or structural shell. The pale coat is the outlier, yet its volume prevents the story from becoming visually repetitive.
The material remains constant; the attitude never does.
