At the Fashion Trust U.S. 2026 Awards in Los Angeles, April 2026, Lili Reinhart paired a sheer black lace high-neck top with a tiered skirt, and I’m not convinced the pieces agree.
Two strong pieces, one slightly confusing pairing. That’s my issue here.
Lili Reinhart arrived at the Fashion Trust U.S. 2026 Awards at Nya Studios in Los Angeles, California on April 08, 2026, in a black lace, high-neck long-sleeve top with a sheer overlay and a visible structured underlayer. It’s undeniably a red carpet kind of top—ornate lace, fitted shape, and that mock-neck line that frames the face instantly.
But then the bottom half shifts gears. The skirt is high-waisted and full-length, built in wide horizontal tiers with pleated texture and soft ruffle edges, plus extra draped panels that hang down the sides like chiffon streamers. And yes, I get the intent: romantic, moody, a little neo-goth.
Still, I’m not sold. The top is sharp and lingerie-adjacent; the skirt feels like a different mood entirely—more costume-y, more “theater curtain,” especially with those side drapes. So the look lands in that awkward middle where it’s not minimal, not maximal, just busy.
Accessories stay pretty quiet (maybe wisely): black lace gloves that match the top, and little earrings. Because when the outfit already has this much texture, adding big jewelry would’ve been a mistake.
One more thing: this styling feels like it’s trying to be “best dressed” energy without committing to a single point of view. If she’d dropped the gloves and simplified the skirt tiers, I think the lace top could’ve carried the whole red carpet fashion moment on its own.
