In sheer layers and split-toe heels, Dianna Agron embraced Glenn Martens’ DIY couture chaos—her look a study in fashion’s beautiful discomfort.

July 9, 2025. Le Centquatre, Paris. The subterranean venue—once home to Martin Margiela’s final show—was reborn in photocopied architectural fragments and papier-mâché floors. And into this dreamlike disarray stepped Dianna Agron, dressed not for applause, but for provocation.

Her ensemble, pulled from Glenn Martens’ debut Artisanal 2025 collection for Maison Margiela, was a layered contradiction: a sheer top over a button-down shirt, paired with an asymmetrical skirt that revealed more than it concealed. The textures clashed deliberately—opaque over translucent, tailored over undone. It was couture as commentary.
Accessories added to the surrealist tension. Burgundy split-toe heels (a Margiela signature) grounded the look in brand lore, while a white handbag and strappy sunglasses offered flashes of polish amid the chaos. A durag-like cap topped the outfit, nodding to streetwear but rendered in high-fashion abstraction.
Agron’s presence sparked online debate. Some fans called the look “assembled from school lost and found”; others saw brilliance in its refusal to flatter. But that’s the Margiela ethos: discomfort as design, beauty as disruption. Martens’ collection featured garments made from antique wallpaper, oil-painted jeans, and repurposed costume jewelry looped into flapper-esque shifts. Agron’s outfit echoed that spirit—part dinner lady, part dystopian ingénue.
